Tetris! Why do I play it so much.

To start, I like Tetris. That's the simple part

But in all seriousness, I love Tetris. It's a fun game that I like to use to also keep myself busy. But Tetris also has some wonderful uses, So why do I play Tetris so much?

A few years ago I wanted to try to see if I could make myself be more focused on something because why not, and the perfect way I figured to do that was play Tetris! I chose Tetris because it makes you think about your next move, it chooses a random piece as the next piece, and often times chooses the piece you don't want.

After some time I decided I wanted to log the scores I was getting in Tetris into a document to see how I was coming along. These scores were logged on this site in Plaintext ASCII form and are still accessable here. I plan on putting these scores into a spreadsheet and plotting my progress from when I started to the most recent entry.

Also after some time I decided to add "distractions" to when I was playing. This started by muting the emulator and listening to music seperately. Then this evolved to having shows such as Animaniacs or Computer Chronicles or just various Youtube videos playing in the background behind the emulator, Causing both a audible distraction as well as a visual distraction in the background. It was surprising to find out that even though at first it did kind of affect my scores I quickly picked back up and even surpassed my previous scores.

My current setup for playing tetris is

mGBA - I use this emulator for when I'm playing on MacOS or Linux

VisualBoy Advance - I use this emulator on occasion when I'm playing on Windows.
